HE was much younger and had a difficult childhood. Yet, unlike some teeners who resorted to rebellion, Kesz Villanueva, rose up from the abuses he went through.
More than this, Kesz has been using his experiences to empower other Filipino teeners who have been going through painful moments.
That is why Kesz, 13, has been named as this year's winner of the globally-renowned International Children’s Peace Prize.
He was chosen from three finalists for the work of his “Championing Community Children” charity which raises funds to hand out gift parcels to needy children in Cavite City. His story is truly inspiring and empowering.
Please note that he is just one of the many more beautiful Filipinos whose acts have stirred our values as Filipinos amid this challenging era of poverty, violence, colonial mentality. These people are not celebrities, politicians, or multi-millionaires. They are ordinary people who did extraordinary things.
I chanced upon this website which named outstanding Filipino citizens. Entitled "Pitong Pilipino," the website honors Nestor Archival, Janela Lelis,Ted Ponferrada, Jerry Gumpad, Gerry Dela Zerna, Gerry Gamez and Miguel Bermundo.
