We threw a birthday party for my brother on June 12, to celebrate his "21 years of good life," as how it is worded in his tarpaulin. His 21st birthday is actually today, but we decided to celebrate it in an earlier date so more of our guests could come...
Yes, it is very rare for Filipino men to have a debut. My brother initially thought it was weird. He just wanted to have a casual eating and drinking session. But then I insisted... and I won, with the help of my mom, who also wanted to throw a big birthday bash for him.
Well, it was still a casual drinking and eating session, but with a twist. We had a mini-program, beginning with a thanksgiving prayer, thanking our Heavenly Father for all the blessings that our family has been receiving--for us, for our new home, for our friends and relatives, et cetera. I also surprised Nic, asking him to give short speech on the spot. Then we later on we have a "blow the candle on the cake"-part of the program, highlighted with confetti shower. It was very memorable.
I would like to thank God, above all, for that day. And to my parents, who have been continuously providing us siblings with all of our wants and needs. To my relatives and friends who traveled from faraway cities and provinces, and took time out of their busy schedules just to make this celebration possible. And to all who prayed for us and supported us, even without your physical presence on that celebration, thank you so much.
